Hot Off the Runway: SGFW 2017

Singapore Fashion Week (SGFW) 2017 gathered designers, stylists and fashionistas from all over the sunny island and the region for 3 fashion and tech filled days. SGFW returned to showcase the hottest home-grown labels. We were spell-bound by 3 labels in particular.

Ying The Label - Beyond Horizons
“Less is more; odd is beautiful”

Started by talented local designer Li Ying, Ying The Label’s unique water canvas is a signature of her artistic expression itself. To produce a design, Ying can use an entire book of A3 sketch paper to create the perfect print. These unique, hand painted works of art are then digitally printed on high quality fabrics.

Ying’s latest collection, Beyond Horizons, was about how we miss the smaller details in our daily hustle. Prints of skies painted orange and pink were splashed across the entire collection. Models strutted the catwalk with quirky props - canvas frame handbags, paintbrushes and even water colour paintings.

If you love Ying The Label as much as we do, come visit Moxie's store to check out our picks of the collection!

Whole9Yards - Spring/Summer 2018
“Unconventional Femininity"

Whole9Yards (W9Y)’ showed us how we can look feminine yet grounded by touches of urban grunge. The label’s signature use of lace, embroidery and floral motifs  creates stylish feminine masterpieces.

After a stint with the famed Alexander McQueen, Creative Director of W9Y - Daniel Ngoo - incorporated ruched tulle tops, deconstructed tops in chiffon with rippling ruffles and sheer dresses into the latest collection. The palette of the collection was largely monochromatic. The tulle craze didn’t stop there. Dainty chiffon, mesh socks styled perfectly with reflective footwear adorned the feet of each model.
